‘Whatever  the state of the economy the job market is always fluid, and change is pretty much inevitable. How will you deal with it, if it happens to you?’

In this podcast, Chris deals with the practical issues and how to cope with the stress that is inevitable when you lose your job.

He provides clear and practical guidance on what to do to move forward and find not only a new job but the one you really want.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Losing a job can be incredibly stressful

There will be a rollercoaster of emotions you will likely feel emotions of anger, resentment and fear.

However, you are taking the news every one of the emotions experienced is normal. You must also recognise they are emotions and reactions to a significant life event.

You must try and take control of them through acceptance of what they are. You will  go through a period of grief and you should initially allow yourself a limited period to come to terms with what has happened followed by a move to being proactive and looking towards plans for the future.

Whatever you do don’t become a hermit. If you cancel all of the social activities you had been taking part in previously you will be putting your mental health at risk.

If you have routines in your life try to stick with them as they will give your life a sense of normality.

  • Don’t wait, be proactive, you are the one in control of  your destiny

Review and restructure your finances making sure you have no unnecessary costs and outgoings
