“小商业才最能体现一个城市的活力。”盛强，北京交通大学建筑与艺术学院副教授。“一个大中型的菜市场到底对城市居民意味着什么？”为了找到这个问题的答案，盛强从2005年开始在北京进行地毯式的调研和访谈，走访了全北京一百多个大大小小的菜市场。 一个菜市场为什么可以持续地在一个地方野蛮生长，而有些菜市场却总是开不长久？盛强通过实地调研，收集数据，试图去发现这些市场消失的规律和原因。 找到菜市场背后的选址规律之后，盛强又把注意力转移到了比菜市场更微小的商业上——自行车修车点。跟修车大爷聊天、通过实景地图精确定位每个修车点的位置。这些修车点野生选址的背后又有什么科学规律？ 找到这些问题的答案，小商业的重要性也就不言而喻了。“我始终认为有数据空间分析支撑的人生才是一个非常踏实的人生。”
