The title of this week's show may sound academic, but consider this - what we do as a society to interact with each other can and does affect our health. For example, if your doctor is not culturally competent, will he/she really understand that it's hard for you to eat fresh fruit and veggies on a daily basis because you may live in a food desert? What role does bias play for both the patient and healthcare professional during a medical visit? And what about technology in the healthcare field? What impact might electronic medical records have on your ability to receive proper care?
