Welcome back to another episode of The Drive & Dish NBA podcast, hosted by Kevin Rafuse (@rafusetolose) & Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir). Despite no hoops because of Coronavirus, the duo is back with another jam packed episode. First up, the first two episodes of The Last Dance documentary on Michael Jordan & the 98 Bulls debuted on ESPN. The guys break down their initial reactions to the doc, including why it so cool for them to see the Bulls back in action. Justin debates the timeline issues of the documentary, while both are amazed at how low Scottie Pippen was paid towards the end of his time with Chicago. That plus their favorite classic Jordan moments from the first episodes, and the 80’s narratives that were debunked a bit. The guys then jump into Who’s Ballin Who’s Fallin which includes Sabrina Ionescu getting drafted #1 overall in the WNBA draft to the New York Liberty. Kevin discusses why this could be a major deal for the league. Justin gets a laugh at Jimmy Butler who in a classic Jimmy move sent all his teammates hoops to make sure they stay working. Negatives this week include Kevin Knox’s long term outlook with the Knicks & Steph Curry just learning how to type properly. After that, the guys dive into the NBA’s horse tournament, won by Mike Conley. The duo recaps all the action, and explains why it just didn’t work overall as an event, but also why that’s not the NBA’s fault. The other big news of the week comes from Jalen Green. Kevin & Justin discuss why him choosing to go the G-League route is such a big deal, and how it legitimizes the process. They also discuss the impact on college basketball and it’s potential to pull in top recruits. Download & subscribe to the podcast on iTunes & leave us a review. You also can listen on Stitcher, PlayerFM, Spotify, Spreaker & Google Play. Watch the podcast on YouTube on the Lineups network.
