He is a nationally recognized veterans-rights advocate on: VA health care benefits, PTSD/TBI and entrepreneurship initiatives. A decorated combat veteran, he served as a team leader with 1st Force Reconnaissance Company (Special Operations) in South Vietnam where he was awarded the Silver Star Medal for valor, the Bronze Star Medal with combat “v” and the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. "Veterans have a lot more going for them than they think they do in terms of getting into business." - Lynn Lowder From the Marines to the Legal Profession Lynn was a football player in college during the Vietnam war. He always wanted to be in the Marine Corps, and so enlisted after the junior season. Within the military, he commanded a Marine rifle platoon, two Marine rifle companies, an overseas Marine security guard company and a Marine special operations team in Vietnam. He spent a total of 16 years in the Corps. Towards the end of his career in the military, he got a degree in law and transitioned into the civilian life as a trial lawyer. Helping 1 Vet at a Time Lynn served as a trial lawyer for 20 years. He eventually worked as general counsel for a large franchise. He also worked as a chief operating officer for other companies. "A number of our veterans would be far better off to be captain of their own row boat than being buried somewhere down in the engine room of a large ship." - Lynn Lowder In 2012, he helped start a veteran program at a regional university. His experience exposed him to many 9/11 veterans. In just less than a year, the program grew to 1400 vets. Choices for Veterans Under the Law Lynn learned that the basic thrust of legislation was full employment. The Servicemen's Readjustment Act (1944) provides a couple of choices for veterans. Under the Act, veterans may get a degree and have a job. They may also choose to get a trade instead. They may also purchase a business property with The Fed as their loan guarantor.
