In this episode of Mind Matters Matter Hadley had an enjoyable interview with Julie Duffy Dillon, a nutrition specialist and eating disorder therapist.

In today's interview we speak about anxiety and Julie shares her own experiences with this.

We bust some myths about eating disorders. We discuss how to cope with anxiety, and how Julie helps people with their food journey.

A little about Julie: she is a Fat Positive Dietitian, Eating Disorder Specialist, and Food Behavior Expert who partners with people along their Food Peace journey. She owns a group nutrition therapy private practice in central North Carolina using only weight inclusive and attuned eating approaches. Julie supervises dietitians and other health care providers to move them away from weight normative approaches and instead focus on promoting healing and health.

Julie also began specializing in treating Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in 2005 after noticing the connection with weight bias and eating disorders. She sought training on the physiology and endocrinology from pioneering experts willing to not focus on weight loss and diets to treat this complicated condition. This insight has helped women with PCOS to advocate for their physical and emotional health without torturing themselves with diets. She launched an e-course A Step-by-Step Guide for PCOS & Food Peace in September 2017.

Julie hosts the weekly podcast Love Food - a Dear Abby show for those with eating concerns hoping to rewrite their fate. Listeners pen a letter to food outlining their complicated relationship. Julie and sometimes a guest discuss solutions before Food writes back.

Julie has spoken at the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, and EDRDPro Symposium. She was also the featured expert dietitian on TLC's documentary My Big Fat Fabulous Life.
