Welcome to another episode of Silent Giants!

Our special guest this episode is Vincent Paterson, the legendary choreographer for pop music and dance icon Michael Jackson. Vincent is responsible for creating some of MJ’s most iconic dance moves. He directed and choreographed Jackson's Bad tour as well as conceiving and choreographing "Smooth Criminal". He choreographed other Jackson music videos, "Black or White", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Dirty Diana", "Speed Demon", Michael’s Super Bowl Halftime show, and 1988 Grammys awards performance. He even invented the ‘crotch grab’. Vincent also in the famous fight scene from ‘Beat It’ and a zombie in ‘Thriller’. When you watch some of Michael’s most iconic work you’re really watching Michael Jackson dance like Vincent Paterson. Crazy to think about right?

Vincent also worked with Madonna choreographing her iconic music videos for ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘Vogue’. Who doesn’t know Madonna’s famous vogue pose right?

Vincent is such a mega silent giant that it was impossible for me to ask him everything in our hour long interview so I decided to focus the direction of the interview on Vincent’s life and experience working with Michael Jackson. I hope to one day bring you in a part 2 but I am sure you’re going to enjoy this special episode.

in this interview Vincent Paterson goes in-depth about his childhood outside of Philadelphia, how he got into dance, working as an assistant to Michael Peters who choreographed Thriller and Beat It music videos, how he then became MJ's lead choreographer and a whole lot more.
