Here in the United States, we are not at war. We have options and choices as to how we move forward and bridge political, ideological, and social divides.

That's the overarching message this week's guest, Nealin Parker, wants us all to understand.

Nealin is the founder and former advisor to the Bridging Divides Initiative at Princeton University and newly minted Executive Director of Common Ground USA, the initiative designed to halt the country's slide toward political violence, take-on the roots of conflicts that divide Americans, and accelerate national healing.

Nealin's experience working in and studying post-conflict cultures, as well as her own upbringing in a hometown with deep Civil War ties, has given her a perspective on the anger and humility that comes from defeat that can be a lesson plan for a better understanding of polarization.
