In world soccer news... The Bundesliga rolls on with a massive match this week. Borussia Dortmund & Bayern Munich tangle as we record this episode. A Bayern win could basically wrap up another title. Serie A is not only preparing for a return, but they might also have an emergency Plan B in place should coronavirus infections increase. The Premier League is getting closer to announcing a return date. Loan deals are set to expire at the end of June. However, one Manchester United loanee has been good value, but his loan deal expires this week! Tim Van Horn and Brodee Scott will have an update on what the domestic leagues are thinking regarding restarts. In the 2nd half, it's a great interview on an underappreciated facet of the sport. Brodee Scott and Tim Van Horn talk indoor soccer with Kevin Healey. Healey is President of the Harrisburg Heat of the Major Arena Soccer League. Despite not having a national broadcasting deal, indoor soccer remains a part of the American sporting fabric. Teams and leagues have come and gone, yet the loyal fan following has remained strong in several cities for four decades. Kevin Healey grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and played soccer in high school and college with previous podcast guest, Memphis Rogues & Cleveland Force goalkeeper John Houska. During his collegiate playing stint, he won a National Championship at Loyola University Maryland. Healey then embarked on a coaching career. He had success developing championship teams in both outdoor and indoor soccer. While Kevin is quick to credit his players, he has been frequently recognized in various leagues with numerous Coach of the Year honors. He is proud of the youth development he's seen as Club President for the Baltimore Bays. Kevin's success earned him the trust to lead off the pitch affairs, too. Healey served several seasons as Coach and General Manager of the legendary Baltimore Blast. Recently, he joined the Harrisburg as Team President, overseeing operations as son Pat-an accomplished professional player-coaches the club. Kevin takes great pride in working with his son. The elder Healey talks about the sports shutdown & how it impacts his club. We enjoyed talking indoor soccer with Kevin Healey.
