Today’s guide is Ruth Cohn. Ruth is a psychotherapist who has been practicing neurofeedback since 2009. She has studied the dynamics of trauma and neglect, and worked with survivors; their intimate partners and families since 1998. Ruth is the author of three books: Working with the Developmental Trauma of Childhood Neglect: Using Psychotherapy and Attachment Theory Techniques in Clinical Practice; Coming Home to Passion: Restoring Loving Sexuality in Couples with Histories of Childhood Trauma and Neglect; and Out of My Mind: Late Night Contemplations About Trauma and Neglect, Book 1.

In this episode, Ruth discusses trauma, with a focus on the traumatic response brought about by chronic neglect. Even young infants are sensitive to facial expressions, and infants who develop avoidant attachment relationships with their primary caregivers may be at higher risk for neglect-based trauma.
