The Nature of Light: The Connection between Physical and Spiritual Light Romans 1 :19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisi­ble attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. What is light? Genesis 1:3; John 1:5; John 8:12 1. Properties of light A. Wave (visible light)- 1. Can shine in good times and bad (It does not need a medium)- Luke 1:76-79; John 1:6; John 1 :9-1 0; Galatians 4:4-7; Matthew 5: 14-16; Psalm 109: 105 2. There is no variation in God's light (Light is light-no matter the form)- James 1:17; Hebrews 13:8; John 8:12; Col. 1:15-17 3. Purity/Good (The color white)- Isaiah 1:18; Matthew 17:2; Mark 9:3; Luke 9:29; Revelation 7:14; Revelation 19:14; 1 Peter 1:18-19 4. Darkness/Evil (The color black)- Genesis 1:4; 1 John 1:5; John 12:35-36; Psalm 27:1; Ephesians 5:8-11; Luke 22:56; Genesis 1:26-27; 1 Thess. 5:5 B. Particle (Energy)- Ephesians 5:8-11; 1 Col. 3:5-7 2. Characteristics of Light a. Absorption- b. Reflection- c. Refraction- d. Transmission- Practical Thoughts: Do we absorb God's word? Do we reflect Jesus? Do we refract from God's word or toward it? Do we transmit God's word?
