Did Jesus laugh? Is Jesus a fun guy?

We know Jesus wept, but what would have made him laugh? Jesus has a sense of humor. Jesus told jokes, some are recorded in Scripture. We worship a God of fun who wants to laugh with us.

If that’s not your perception of Jesus, you might need to change your reality.

Jesus put the fun in “fungible”

He changed people’s realities all the time – still does

Took fishermen and made them fish for men

Scruffy dudes and tax collectors became His disciples

The hated and the outcast became beloved of God

New names

Water to wine

Wine and bread became flesh and blood

The King of all Creation became a servant

Speaking of water to wine – Jesus was a fun guy to have at parties

Accused of being a glutton and a drunk

People wanted him at their parties and he went to the rowdiest ones

Jesus wanted everyone included

LUKE 5:29 NIV Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.

LUKE 5:30 NIV But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

LUKE 5:31 NIV Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

LUKE 5:32 NIV I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Sick burn.

Jesus Is A Funny Guy. If that’s not your perception then you need to change your reality.

Matthew 11:7-8 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces.

You give them something to eat

Jesus even told jokes in his sermons

LUKE 6:37 NIV “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

LUKE 6:38 NIV Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

LUKE 6:39 NIV He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?

LUKE 6:40 NIV The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

LUKE 6:41 NIV “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

LUKE 6:42 NIV How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

At times Jesus almost seemed like an insult comic

Matthew 11:16-19 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Only pre-crucifixion? NO. “Children do you have any fish?”

Change Your Reality

Let Him change your reality today

JOHN 16:33 NIV “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
