Hey there, hope you're enjoying your January holidays (if you're listening in the southern hemisphere). I'm back in the saddle - at a canter not a gallop just yet. This is a repeat from another podcast I make for the Australian Shareholders' Association - AGM Watch. Each year the Australian Shareholders' Association monitors the performance of most of Australia’s top 200 companies - protecting the rights of retail shareholders with a dedicated team of volunteer company monitors.

In this episode we're joined by Mike Robey, Company Monitoring Committee Chair for Victoria, and Lewis Gomes, the NSW Company Monitoring Chair.

We spoke about:

  • The Telstra AGM and the challenges it faces
  • The shape of the Telstra restructure and the role of holding companies
  • Vicky Brady’s appointment as CEO
  • How the holding company structure is being implemented at ANZ.
  • BHP & RIO have been star performers despite their attempts to divest out of fossil fuels.
  • SEEK and voting against the remuneration report.
  • SEEK's investment arm and how is this affecting operations?
  • Why Goodman Group a successful company with an outrageous remuneration report
  • CBA - Great results and excellent internal culture/leadership but poor management of its AGM
  • Origin Energy - a tale of two companies
  • The struggles of Lend Lease
