Hosted by Edmund Lee, President & CEO of the Caylum Trading Institute, Short Stops is your weekly stock market update featuring the top trading news, tips and stock picks in Metro Manila and around the world. “Only when the tide goes out do you see who’s swimming naked.” - Warren Buffett -- Short Stops is back for a follow up episode to give you a glimpse of the roundtable discussions that our traders have been engaging in since the market turned around two weeks ago. There’s a misconception that the market has been challenging only in recent days but in reality, the PSEi is currently moving along the same level of 7,400 as it has been since May of 2013. This means that we’ve been range bound for about six years and Edmund, Charles and Leonard are on the show today to explain to you why this has posed as both a problem and an opportunity, depending on the lens that you view it from. - Why is our market actually cheaper today than it was six years ago despite the same index value? - Why there’s nothing really new to tell when it comes to the correlation of global markets with emerging markets - interest rates are still low, credit is still cheap and so on. This means that if you want to maximize profit in this market, you need to rely on technicals and sentiment more than fundamentals for the meantime. - Is there a full blown crisis? Because everyone’s been talking about a crisis happening for the past 3-5 years. - Stock selection is the ultimate key to making money in this kind of environment. Weak markets actually weed out the weak stocks and expose the alphas that you want to focus on. - You need to keep an open mind. Everyone has a strong opinion about whether the market is going to go up or if it’s going to go down which is fine. Trade it the way you see it but you have to be quick enough to adapt when the market tells you that you’re wrong. Get your next trading insight and find your baggers right here on Short Stops.
