Behind the scenes of any big film set you’ll find a unit stills photographer – a job sometimes likened to being a photojournalist for film. Matt Kennedy has shot stills for an impressive number of films and shows, from Michael Bay's blockbuster Transformers and several Marvel films to the Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi and most recently for the Netflix flick Blonde - a biopic about Marilyn Monroe.
In this episode of Shutter Stories he tells our host, Canon Ambassador Ilvy Njiokiktjien, all about what it’s really like to be on set. How does a typical day unfold? How does he build relationships with actors, and who has been his favourite actor to work with? How does he navigate the film setup and plan which stills to shoot?
