It all started when he enlisted in the U.S. Army and started singing in an Army sponsored band called Rambling Country. After an Honorable discharge and returning to Texas, he put together his own band titled Ace in the Hole, which gained an impressive following.
He has had many great hits such as ”Straight From the Heart”, “ Does Fort Worth ever Cross Your Mind”, “Ocean Front Property”, “If You Ain’t Lovin’ You Ain’t Livin”, and the awesome “I Cross My Heart”.
He has more No. 1 hits than any other artist in any genre. He is the first artist in the history of Billboard magazine to have at least one single to enter the Top 10 chart for 30 consecutive years.
