Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. He joined Caroline in 1977, touring the country with the Caroline Roadshow for 10 years, having great fun. Barry helped with tender trips and worked on the Ross Revenge in '84 and '85. ...

Die Band wurde 1980 in Magdeburg von Marion Sprawe – Gesang Triola Perkussion, Jürgen Rohmeis – Gesang Keyboard, Friedhelm Ruschak – Bass Gesang und Jürgen „Ali“ Albrecht an der Gitarre gegründet. Der erste Auftritt der Band war am 27. April 1982 im Magdeburger „Flora-Club“. Beim Schlagerfestival „Goldener Rathausmann“ in Dresden 1983 wurde sie zum Publikumsliebling und erreichten den zweiten Platz. 1985 ging Sprawe zu Smokings Rockshow. 1988 absolvierte die Band eine Tournee in die Sowjetunion. Mit ihren sozialkritischen Titeln Marionetten, Berlin, du wirst uns viel zu teuer, Stempelsong und Nachrichtensprecher waren sie nahe dran, ein Auftrittsverbot zu erhalten. Komponist der Band war Ruschak; die Texte stammten von Sprawe und Ruschak. Seit 1993 tourt die Band mit Peter Schilling, Markus, Joachim Witt, Frl. Menke, UKW und Geier Sturzflug bei diversen NDW-Partys.
