This week Pastor Emma gave us a powerful reminder and challenge to confront the pride in our lives and look to replace that with transformational humility. Looking at the example of what it takes place in Acts 8 we see that just like with Simon the sorcerer, receiving Jesus doesn’t mean that we still don’t have pride in our lives that we need to deal with. Although we are justified by faith as we receive Jesus we get to walk out the journey of sanctification as we deal with areas of pride. Pride isn’t only self-centredness but can also be masked as insecurity. Pride ultimately seeks power, is self-serving, persistent and seeks position. Humility on the other hand recognizes the source of power, it surrenders, is cultivated and seeks out calling.
