With Hurricane Irma barreling towards Florida after causing massive destruction in the Caribbean, two other hurricanes now active, and Texas still facing the damage and loss of life wrought by Hurricane Harvey, there is no doubt that as a result of global warming, massive hurricanes floods, fires are on the increase. But how much focus is there on the impact of contaminants, chemicals and waste triggered by these natural disasters on our health and environment? Not only of people but all life. And: is extreme flooding a threat to nuclear power plants? Why are environmental groups concerned about the nuclear power plants that stayed open during the recent flooding in Houston?
