The post-Labor Day presidential election crunch and panic is on. Hillary has had a bad spell; there is no let up from the email scandal and Benghazi, and now even Colin Powell's opinion on both fronts are public due to his private emails being hacked. The press have had a field day with Clinton's comment that half of Trump supporters were a "basket of deplorables," which was then followed by Hillary's bout with pneumonia, giving legs to conservatives who for a while now have tried to make something out of Clinton's health. What does all of this mean for Trump, the man that refuses to release his taxes and has insulted women and Mexicans, threatens not to allow Muslims into this country, regularly issues racist dog whistles, and says good things about Russia's President Putin – because Putin says good things about him! Is this the future of U.S. foreign policy under a Trump presidency? And what has happened to Hillary? Why is this race a dead-heat, leaving many in the know quietly but seriously predicting a Trump win? Why is Trump so popular among white voters? Is it about the state of the economy or is it about race? Why are young people flocking to conservative libertarian candidate Gary Johnson? Why is Green Party candidate Jill Stein behind Johnson in the polls? On the international front, there continues to be fallout from Trump s visit to Mexico. Further south, in Brazil, there are deep troubles for the Workers Party. First, Dilma Rousseff is removed from power; now, her predecessor Lula DaSilva is yet again under investigation. Also, what are the implications of the latest peace accord in Syria, brokered by the U.S. and Russia? Have the new U.S.-Russia cold war tensions moved from Syria to the U.S. presidential race, where Russia is now accused of meddling? Our panelists are Jackie Goldberg, Laura Carlsen and Dr. Gerald Horne.
