Have you ever considered walking the Camino, also known as The St. James Way? Is it on your bucket list? There are several different Camino routes one can take and my guest today, Joy Alway, has walked many of them.
Joy Alway grew up in Devon, England but always dreamed of travelling and seeing the world so studied Business Studies (Travel and Tourism) and moved into the world of tour operating, working in Paris and London. She married young and spent her twenties living and working in London and gay Paris. Her thirties and forties were spent in Geneva, Switzerland bringing up her two precious sons, fighting cancer, and organising tours to Switzerland for musicians. Her fifties have been spent looking after her father until he died, volunteering in old people’s homes, working in a hotel in France, dealing with a devastating divorce, and now walking and writing about life’s rich tapestry, and treasuring every experience that helps her evolve and grow.
Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago for getting Pilgrim Credential (pilgrim’s passport) and the Compostela (a certificate obtainable upon completing at least the last 100 km of The Way on foot or 200km of the Way by bike):
