Someone To Take The Edge Off Podcast EPISODE 2 - NICK SUN 23.02.2017 About 10 days ago I did my friend Brent's gig - Laughs On Tap. And on the line up was a guy called Nick Sun. I'd never heard of him before. Turned out to be one of the best comedians I'd ever seen and having been an intense comedy nerd* was confused as to how I'd never heard of him... When I got home I looked all over the internet but I couldn't find that much - just some poorly filmed clips on YouTube but nothing I could like... buy. So I messaged him on Facebook and he linked me to some audio books but told me he has no album recorded. Which to me was mind blowing... What the fuck was going on? Getting a lift home after work I told my friend driving me, I said - 'Dude there's this absolutely fucking sick comedian that just came from nowhere... Should I ask him to be on my podcast?'. And he just 'Yeah... What do you have to lose?'. And I did and he was like 'yeah sure but like I leave in like 3 days... are you free this day?... blah blah blah'. And I was like 'Yeah sure that days fine... blah blah blah'. And then I relaxed for a bit and had a nap and was woken up by a message being like 'Hey dude you wanna do it right now!?'. And I was like 'Fuck... um yeah sure come in 45'. So I spent 45 minutes just nervously writing some questions/conversational topics... And every time I read them back I just thought 'Fuck these are shit notes'. But I had no time to really do anything. And I was freaking the fuck out. Like who am I... I'm just this kid in comparison. I'm going to be talking to a dark-lord-warrior-Doug-Stanhope-endorsed fucking veteran of really good bleak comedy in Australia farrrrrrrk... Anyway he turned up. Was the sweetest guy... we had a great conversation. It was just awesome... Nick has a show that he is doing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival between the dates of the 29th of March and the 23rd of April. It's going to be really good.
