Known as the “Bitter Blood Murders,” in 1985, first cousins and lovers, Susie Newsom Lynch and Fritz Klenner led police and SBI on a chase that ended in an explosion that killed them and Susie’s two young sons. It was the culmination of a bloody feud that had already left five dead, decimating two prominent families in a Southern Gothic tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. This case was first reported in a series of articles by journalist Jerry Bledsoe, who then researched the families for three years before releasing his #1 New York Times best-selling opus, Bitter Blood: A True Story of Southern Family Pride, Madness, and Multiple Murder This incredible true crime classic is still in print to this day, as well as available on kindle: https://www.amazon.com/Bitter-Blood-Southern-Madness-Multiple-ebook/dp/B00KFI0EFI/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1550330582&sr=1-1&keywords=bitter+blood+by+jerry+bledsoe Case suggested by Bridgett Jochum Promo on this episode: Trashy Divorces Written, hosted and produced by Erica Kelley Original Graphic Art by Coley Horner Original Music by Rob Harrison of Gamma Radio https://southernfriedtruecrime.com https://www.facebook.com/southernfriedtruecrime https://www.patreon.com/southernfriedtruecrime https://whatamaneuver.net/collections/southern-fried-true-crime (merch shop) @southfriedtruth (Twitter) @southernfriedtruecrime (Insta)
