In October of 2001, Traci Cooper was brutally murdered by her abusive ex-boyfriend, Alan Ruff. He went on trial an unprecedented eight times before he was finally convicted. Some were mistrials due to technicalities. Others were hung juries, usually split down racial lines. Traci was white and Alan is African American. Was justice finally served? Is it right to try a man eight times? Would a white man have faced eight trials?
