Ya’ll know we’re big fans of Detroit hip-hop here at Southern Vangard Radio - when we kicked off this show in 2015, a new wave of sound was coming out of the D in the form of Nolan The Ninja, Clear Soul Forces, Ty and many others. Since then, he has continued to ride that wave - if not command it - and he’s mashing through 2018 like a Mack truck with no brakes. Ty is kicking off the 2nd half of the year with the release of “No Cosign, Just Cocaine 2”, so we did it up right! Ty dropped a video for “Tyrant Talk” on Monday, we had an album premiere on Episode 174 AND there’s this here interview session for one day before the album drops on Friday, August 10! We get the scoop on his approach with the 2nd installment of the series that he originally kicked off on Valentine’s Day this year, his incessant attention to detail when it comes to song creation and how important it is for him to have a cohesive sound across a project, even when several different producers are involved. We hop back to the past for a bit and talk about his coming up in the battle scene, how he ended up being tight with French Montana and how he and Proof completely flipped the Detroit battle scene upside down in the early to mid 2000’s.
