In today's Podcast, we are back on the Road to Paris, to the Olympic and Paralympic Games with our partners and sponsors of Team Ireland, Permanent TSB.
An Olympic Gold Medal is about as rare a commodity as you will find in sport. In fact, there are only four living Irishmen that have one in their possession so it is special to chat today with one of them, Fintan McCarthy, who brought the nation to their feet in Tokyo and is hoping to do so again in Paris.
Along the way, he is a three-time world champion but our conversation isn’t all about the boat.
We chat inevitably about his partner Paul O’Donovan and what they talk about off the water, about where he keeps his medal, about what might be next and about the memento he likes to take from his races, even if the Marshalls would rather he didn’t.
He is as engaging a personality as you would imagine from seeing him on the telly so let’s head to West Cork and get the conversation started.
Next up on the Podcast is a chat with Ireland Football star Stephenie Roche, looking back on that goal, ahead to the next phase for Women’s football in Ireland and plenty more.
You can subscribe to this podcast which drops every Tuesday and Thursday across a wide range of sporting areas on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts from. There are over 40 interviews to listen back to already as well and if you like it give us a nice review and we will name-check you on a future episode.
