The Overflow of our Hearts (Fr Daniel Fanous)

Jesus tells us how a tree is known by its fruit and that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, meaning whatever comes out of our mouths, it is what our hearts are filled with. It is because the overflow of the heart, the mouth then speaks. God created Humanity, to be the temple of God and for Him to have a dwelling place within us. The Word became Man, became Flesh and dwelt in us – and that is why Christ came so that He can be in us, so that our overflow and everything that comes out of us, whether they are our words and actions will be Him. As one of the desert fathers says, "Many times, I have regretted having spoken, never have I ever regretted being silent".
