Next, Jake talks to Maryland GOP Governor Larry Hogan about Republicans’ decision to nominate Trump-backed election denier Dan Cox to succeed him, and gets his reaction to learning how Trump did nothing to stop the violence at the Capitol while Hogan fielded desperate calls from congressional leaders and mobilized police and National Guard units.
Then, Jake speaks exclusively to US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg about the Biden administration’s efforts to contain the spread of monkeypox in the United States. Plus, Buttigieg responds to a Republican senator saying that codifying same-sex marriage protections is a “stupid waste of time.”
