The short bit... DJ & producer specialising in House, Techno, Lounge, Funk, Disco and Downtempo music. The long bit... Hailing from the UK and now residing in Dubai, Andy Mcgirr has been involved in the electronic music scene for over a decade, in which has seen him work with, and DJ alongside some of the most prolific names in the industry. Andy's music productions have featured on multiple global compilations and labels including Ministry Of Sound, Absolutely, Techno-Club, Ultra Chic, Deep Rising, Suga Spin, GF Recordings and many more. One of his works, a remix of The Prodigy's “No Good” featured on BBC Radio 1 week upon week, and was the set opener for Kutski at BBC Radio 1's One Big Weekend in Sheffield, broadcast to millions of dance music fans globally. Andy has also earned global DJ support from renowned acts such as Dubfire, Phunk Investigation, Stonebridge and Jon Rundell, who have not only remixed his tracks, but also supported much of his music at various events and venues such as Pacha, Avalon (Los Angeles) and the South American Music Conference to name but a few. In the press, Andy has had support with several mixmag reviews of his music. Whether it be providing an epic down tempo soundtrack for a chilled day by the pool, sun downers at sunset, or a captivating deep and groove filled and House & Techno set into the early hours, Andy's experience allows him to deliver each to the highest standard. Andy has been at the helm of the Scottish dance music scene for many years serving as long-time resident, and guest for several of the countries top venues and nightclubs. These have included the world famous The Arches, Glasgow, The Liquid Room, Edinburgh, The Boulevard, Glasgow, The Ice Factory, Perth, Room At The Top, Bathgate, and for a host of other venues and promoters such as Inside Out, Freefall & Rectify. Not content with performing only in the UK, Andy has traveled and performed in Ibiza, France, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain taking in two tours of the Middle East alongside UK favourites Judge Jules and Dave Pearce. The tours included Desert Heat – a festival by Global DJs in the Qatari desert to over 2000 dance music fans, a setting which could only be described as surreal. Andy currently holds several weekly residencies in Dubai, UAE. In 2016, Andy launched his podcast 'Sub Division', which has given him a platform to express his musical influences, while breaking down the divisions in electronic music, showcasing the very best underground House music and crossover Techno sounds. Having over fourteen years’ experience behind the decks, Andy has developed a skill which allows him to play cross genre, while taking a crowd on a journey with a combination of technical ability and track selection. In his own words “mixing one track into another is not being a DJ. The ability to engage a crowd, control the dance floor and take them on a journey for the whole night, is”.
