• Jeannie Porter, development director for Cheyenne Village, 6275 Lehman Drive, talks about the Shrimp Boils at Country Club of Colorado 125 Clubhouse Drive, 6 p.m. Aug. 4. For $75 per person you get peel-and-eat boiled shrimp, potatoes, corn-on-the cob, sausage and trimmings. Wrap up the evening with s’mores. The event benefits the four group homes located throughout El Paso County and assist over 100 people who live in their own apartments, homes, or with host families. • Mike Preisler, founder of A Grazing Life Farm Dinners, will talk about farm tours with a rotating schedule of local chefs who uses the farm’s bounty to create a unique meals. Local beverages and bands will accompany the dinner and end each evening with relaxed entertainment. Visit agrazinglife.com.

• Levi Schofield, Cafe Manager for Switchback Coffee Rosters and café, 330 N. Institute St., talks about the Switchback Saturday Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. Local artists and artisans sell their Colorado Springs made wares. When you purchase an item from a local artisan, you get a 20 percent discount on drinks inside Switchback. Awaken Food Truck will sell food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. He will also talk about a new menu at the café. Details: 581-9478, switchbackroasters.com

• Claudette Thompson Hutchinson, owner of Spice Island Grill, 10 N. Sierra Madre St., talks about her Beach Party customer appreciation barbecue to celebrate her 6 years of being in business at noon on Aug. 19 and 20. There will be live bands and a bounce house.
