Now, he trains extensively at agencies and police academies throughout New Jersey and teaches at conferences like ILEETA’s. Adam sat down with Andrew to talk leadership training at the 2021 ILEETA Conference, where he instructed “12 Concepts of Leadership That Should Be Part of Annual Training”. The course defines the state of leadership today as a crisis and highlights the lack of universal training standard and the risks associated with failure to train and lead. Andrew provides instructors with the knowledge and skills they need to be a great leader and trainer, so they can support their team’s development. In this episode, Adam & Andrew discuss what makes a great leader and leadership program. There is a need for ongoing and continuous decision-making/leadership training for all officers, not just command staff and executive level leadership. Having these positive influencers in an agency creates a strong environment where people feel engaged, supported, and fulfilled in their work. Leaders: Leadership is a responsibility. Get to know your team, strive to develop them, and create leaders. It’s not about you. Earn your leadership and re-earn it everyday. You must care, commit, and continue to be a learner to be a great leader.
