TT46 Unintended Success Through The Right Intention with Zamiha Desai of RecommendAsian
Manage episode 336760515 series 2882124
Get ready because you are in for a real treat especially if, like me, you love a straight talker!
Zamiha Desai is a very special lady: 6 years ago she was working at the Head Office of our best known national retailers living a somewhat ordinary life. Following some changes in management structure and a programme of redundancies, she dreaded going to work. That same year having found a sari pleater who she though was amazing and wanted to share with her friends, she started a Facebook group called RecommendAsian.
The group started with 219 of her friends and the intention to help others - it rapidly grew to over 70,000 members… she then founded another group called Professional Asian which grew just as quickly.
Zamiha and I talked about so many things outside of her story including:
- Self Care
- Social Media
- Parenting Pressures in the 21st Century
- Growing up as a British Asian & cultural identity
- The challenges faced by women in the professional & domestic space
- Burnout and getting help when you need it
Enjoy!
