Did you know that emceeing used to be referred to as the master of ceremonies? An emcee is part speaker, engager, encourager, and audience caretaker. Today I'm diving into being an emcee and what that looks like, so get ready and tune in!

ACTIVATE will be held at the end of February and around August/September. This course combines years of my speaking career, an event planner and tour producer. You will want to be on the waitlist to access a discount and early access. Sign up, even if you aren't sure yet, because everyone on the waitlist will get a very nice discount. Who doesn't love a good deal? And the best part? There is no obligation to get on the list! Go to my website and click ACTIVATE to sign up for the waitlist.

Another advantage about being on the email list? You get the details first about my new boot camp that is coming up. Don't miss it!

Have you sent me a text yet? Feel free to send one to 205-964-5337. I'll look forward to texting with you.

So, what is the art of emceeing? What exactly does an emcee do? I cover this and even say something that I've NEVER said before in this episode, and you're not going to want to miss this!

"It is your job to care for the audience, and it's your job to connect with the audience." - Mary R Snyder.

Highlights from today's episode include:

  • Emceeing, my favorite things, and what was it called before? (3:11)
  • How is emceeing different than a speaker with a few stories (4:43)
  • Sometimes you have to toss out your notes and do it differently (7:12)
  • Warm up the audience, bring them together, and engage with them (8:22)
  • The art of emceeing is like being a speaker, and you grow in this art by doing (9:45)
  • I'll be teaching in North Carolina in early February (11:09)

Have you ever been a master of ceremonies? Or is this something that you think you'd like to try to do? I'd love it if y'all came to join the conversation in the Facebook group-Take the Stage Speakers and share with us! Or feel free to ask questions. Not on Facebook? No worries, you can always find me on Instagram or text me! I would love for you to share with me.
