Forgiveness is the key to living a truly rich and free life. But forgiveness runs so much deeper than just apologizing to someone or accepting their apology. On today’s episode of That’s So Rich, Kat talks about the importance of being able to specifically heal the relationship you have with your parents or primary caregivers not only to help the relationship itself but also what is possible for you as a whole in your life.

Together we will dive into:

  • Family is the biggest mirror for the triggers and areas of your life that you can still heal and create forgiveness for
  • Why is forgiveness so hard to create or accept in the first place?
  • The physiological response that happens when you are hurt by someone or something
  • How holding onto pain is actually a subconscious “protection” mechanism
  • The nervous system deems emotional pain and past experiences as threats that it is trying to protect you from
  • How past experiences and unprocessed emotions can be held in your body on a cellular level and must be cleared with somatic healing
  • How unhealed trauma creates a lack of safety inside of the body which then can distort your perception of the world and what you believe is possible for you
  • Attachment theory and how it forms the subconscious mind and your perception of the world because of that
  • What’s been possible when you heal and release the repressed emotions you have towards your parents or primary caregiver
  • Forgiveness runs deeper than just saying an apology or receiving an apology
  • Internal safety is necessary to truly be able to genuinely forgive
  • Don’t forget to also forgive yourself
  • You are deserving of a future that is free from the weight of your past
