"Confused and concerned while tightly holding onto my father’s arm, I was an eight-year-old boy split up from my family to be placed on a small fishing boat sitting closely with twenty-five other people. After five days of no food, the entire boat was ready to succumb to the treacherous sea. The pounding of the waves onto the sides of the boat with splashes of the salt water onto my face and the darkness of the night brought chills to my bones. Life at sea was a torturing death sentence.

On the boat, we all had one mission and that was to find freedom..."
With a deep and insightful combination of optimism, hope, courage, and gratitude, Len Tran, author of Split Up by the Sea, discusses his memoir and shares some of the incredible lessons he learned through his treacherous experience and the importance of staying the course.
"If we want to move forward, we've got to make a decision."

Len Tran is a professional speaker, author, and a martial artist. Len continues to strive and push his own limits while inspiring others not to let go of their inner drive. As a martial artist for more than thirty-five years, he trains himself and his students to become better than who they were. With the right focus and discipline, staying the course simply means success is waiting at the other end. He received a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and has worked more than twenty years professionally in the engineering intellectual property field.
