1 Corinthians 6:19-21
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.
So glorify God in your body.
It’s that time of year. Time to expose the bat wings and the legs that are in a desperate need of a shave. When we put on shorts and get an inner thigh rash at the zoo thanks to our severe lack of thigh gap, which in turn makes us hate everyone and everything, including the monster who created Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the month.
It’s the time for some tank tops and spaghetti straps while evaluating if our cotton candy arms should be allowed to meet and greet the world. The time of year when we reluctantly put away the cozy cardigans and other “late night cake eating hiders” (which is a very long nickname I like to give a very stylish Ugg robe I got for Christmas that hid all the regrets of the holidays - thus a garment I wore every day, obviously).
As I reflected on my body - in front of a mirror with horrific lighting (not recommended) I realized a woman’s relationship with her temple is complicated. Not just complicated, but often abusive. Not just abusive in how we feed and nourish our bodies, but how we view, speak to and approach life within our bodies. Women’s bodies, throughout the ages, have been objectified not just by men - but by women. We often objectify ourselves and each other.
Let's change that - starting now. Enjoy today's episode
