In this episode of The Avalanche Hour Podcast, Dom Baker has a conversation with Grant Statham. Grant is a Visitor Safety Specialist with Parks Canada based in Banff, Alberta. Starting at 17 years old as a climber and ski patroller, Grant quickly became an ACMG/IFMGA mountain guide by age 24 and since then has pursued a 30-year career in mountain and ski guiding, avalanche forecasting and mountain rescue. Grant’s study of risk has led to the development of many of the avalanche risk management systems used today, including the Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale and the Conceptual Model of Avalanche Hazard.
