This week, on The Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam welcomes Author and Science Buff Roman Godzich.

Roman is an internet industry veteran. He began designing e-commerce solutions on the French Minitel system in the 1980’s. He has designed search engines, booking processes, affiliate programs and ad networks.

Throughout his career, he has been responsible for over $1 billion in online sales. Currently, his responsibilities content creation and management, user experience and e-commerce optimization. for an online travel group.

Roman is a polyglot who, in his spare time, writes fiction and catches fish. He is a 6-time NaNoWriMo winner and author of the Amazon science fiction bestseller No Higher Ground. We will be discussing his book and how Science Fiction predicts the future!

Segment 1

The show begins with the quotes from Abraham and the Universe, today the Universe’s centering around the necessity of the emotions we experience on all parts of the spectrum, not to shy away from them, embrace what they can teach you about yourself, Abraham’s relating how all of our choices, our decisions, all the factors of our physical existence, is leading up to these moments in the present, that aren’t at the beginning, but right in the thick of the journey of our lives. Sam introduces the guest, Roman Godzich, the two reminiscing on the early days of the personal computer and information technology, punch cards, the burgeoning science-fiction culture in the sixties and seventies, Roman and Sam delving into their first experiences with the genre as a children.

Roman talks how he got started in writing and publishing novels, his experiences participating in NaNoWriMo (Nation Novel Writing Month), joining a local society of fiction writers, making the decision to self-publish, and his initial inspiration for the story. He transitions into how China made its way to prominence in the narrative speaking to the more political side of the novel, and the scope and presence of science-fiction counter to that, detailing the technological innovations in the story parallel to how it progresses in the real world. Roman then offers his thoughts on the growth of technology today.

Segment 3

Roman offers up what he’s learned about the meaning of dreams and how science-fiction can be used to predict the future and chimes in about his ideas of extraterrestrial life and space travel. The conversation goes into the depiction of these concepts in science-fiction media to date and a brief reflection on our existence in the universe and the nature of our waking consciousness.

The final segment begins with Roman’s predictions on technological advances in the future, informing listeners on a few current steps forward in biology and biochemistry, adaptive and augmented technologies, and the possibility of a simulated reality, which goes into a conversation about how what exactly makes us human, the thread ending with Roman’s outlook on humanity as a whole. The show ends with Roman’s reflection on the growth of humanity, the phasing out of war, what he would do if an alien came down to Earth and stepped right at his front door step, the inner-drive in humans for knowledge and learning and the importance of curiosity.
