On episode 52 of The Fanboy Garage, we unpack the successful weekend at the box office captured by Toy Story 4 before examining how the film's final tally compared to projections.

Following our box office analysis, we talk about the evolution of the sci-fi film genre and its relevance to today's audience. Looking at movies like the recently released Child's Play reboot and the Netflix film I Am Mother, we explore how things have changed since the introduction of the first Terminator film.

From there we quickly share our thoughts on the rumored reboot of the Matrix now with Michael B. Jordan attached and look back on the success and stumbles of the original Matrix trilogy.

To close the show, we once again bring on special guest, Tavo and Phil and talk about AEW's upcoming Fyter Fest before diving into our thoughts on the impending beef with big dog, WWE.

Episode 51: The REAL story Behind Bad Robot’s Multi-million Dollar Deal, Weekend at the Flop-Office, LucasFilm Organizes and more

On this episode of The Fanboy Garage, we quickly summarize the results of this weekend’s box office (flop-office) where movies like Dark Phoenix and MIB International fall short of projections and consumer interest.

From there, we clear the air and expose the real news behind the deal between JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Media. With a price tag of $500 million, the deal re-ups Bad Robot with Warner Brothers ahead of the launch of the rumored Warner Media streaming service.

In other news, we discuss the recent announcement that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has named Michelle Rejwan as SVP of Live Action Development and Production for Lucasfilm. Staying in a galaxy far far away, we discuss our hopes on for a potential movie set in the era of the Old Republic.

To close, we talk about the potential of new a la carte broadcast opportunities as streaming services become a dime a dozen and what consumers should expect in the months to come.
