Jerry Nelson is a Postmaster for the US Postal Service and lives in south Texas USA. He has been married for 29 years and is a father of two, and grandfather of three and is a US Army veteran.

Jerry had pretty normal periods of weight loss over his life through calorie restriction and exercise but this was always followed by weight gain again. Every time he would lose weight though, he would get injured which unfortunately would lead to surgery. Coupled with a sedentary lifestyle after the surgeries, this was a recipe that led to weight gain. A frustrating story some can relate to.

Jerrys’ all-time weight high was in February 2001, around 210kg (465 pounds) and he had gastric bypass around that time which helped to save his life.

He had got down to low of 81kg (178 pounds) after that when injures again stopped him from exercising and through eating, being sedentary and also drinking he explains that he regained his weight back to around 161 kg (357 pounds). The injuries Jerry suffered were nearly all orthopaedic injuries Besides the gastric bypass, he has had 17 other surgeries - 14 knee, 1 shoulder, 1 fractured skull, and 1 arm surgery over that time.

He started intermittent fasting at around 162kg (357pounds) and is currently around 91kg (200pounds).

For the first time in his life, Jerry has finally got control of his health and he tells us that intermittent fasting is the reason. He shares with us stories from some of his time in the army and his transition to a dream job with the US Postal Service. He also proudly tells us about his love for his wife, who has supported him right throughout his journey. Jerry's transformation is simply stunning and is a great example of perseverance and determination. What a story this podcast is!
