E44 The Fifth Court - presented by Mark Tottenham BL and Peter Leonard BL.

On this episode they talk to former solicitor (with her own practice one stage), barrister and now crime novelist (she has had six books published to date - with a new one 'in the works'), Andrea Carter about her long and winding career and why she chose the quill over the wig...and they ask how much her extensive legal knowledge informs her characters and her plots? Her books had been under option for big and small screen, so when will we see her at the BAFTAS and/or in Hollywood the Oscars?

Her recommendation of a legal or law based book is A Thread of Violence, by Mark O'Connell and she also recommends Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

They two discuss just one Decisis.ie case, that of Tomas Heneghan who took a case all the way to the Supreme Court that had to adjudge whether it was constitutional that there's a restriction on the right to vote for certain so called 'University seats' in Seanad Éireann.
