Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep

**We apologize for the technical challenges we experienced with this episode. The sound quality does not meet our standards, but Larry's stories are as fantastic as ever**

Larry Seiple was a seventh-round draft choice of the Miami Dolphins in 1967 and went on to play 11 seasons with the team as a punter, halfback and tight end. Seiple led the Dolphins with 577 receiving yards and 5 TD receptions in 1969, but he is best remembered for his fake punt in the 1972 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers when his 37-yard scamper set up Miami’s first score and propelled the team to a 21-17 victory and keeping the Perfect Season alive. Following his playing career, Seiple spent 20 years coaching in the NFL, including 12 seasons (1988-1999) with the Dolphins. In The Tank, “Seip” recalls the early years with the Dolphins playing for George Wilson, the dramatic shift that took place when Don Shula took the reigns in Miami, reveals who called the fake punt that has defined his playing career, shares which Dolphins Super Bowl Champion he feels was the better team, and sheds some light on what it was like to coach a young OJ McDuffie.
