In this show, Jeff Stockton, Nikiah Seeds and John-Luke Edwards are in conversation with Sarah Kerr.

We hear the statement, “in life we are in death.” And maybe the reverse is also true, “In death we are in life.”

At this time of t=year when the veil between the worlds of life and death are said to be thinner, more transparent and permeable, we explore the relationship with death and grieving.

Sarah comes to her work through her heart, her hands, and her head.

Her passion is helping individuals, families, and communities to find spiritual practices and ceremonies that that honour our souls’ experiences as we move through life transitions.

Sarah loves being with people in the depths of what is real. When the familiar structures of our lives are stripped away, we show up as we really are, and our most genuine humanity is revealed. Her soul is fed in that place where pain and sorrow, joy and love, are so exquisitely true and beautiful that her heart cracks open.

Sarah has a Masters Degree in Environmental Philosophy, a Masters Certificate in Intuition Medicine, and a PhD in Transformative Learning. She has also been a long-time student of cross-cultural shamanism and nature-based spirituality, and has worked with many indigenous and western teachers. She has made her own journeys through darkness and difficulty, into healing and resolution.

Sarah is in love what she does, and she brings an open-hearted practicality to it. She says that she joins her clients in some very intimate and personal experiences, which she does with respect, humility, compassion, and awe. Sarah knows when to be serious, and when laughter is the medicine that’s needed. She is deeply committed to individual and community healing.

“Sitting up with the Dead.” By Ray Stevens is from his country album ‘Lend me your ears’ released in 1990 on Curb Records. Ray Stevens is an American country and pop singer-songwriter and comedian, known for his Grammy-winning recordings "Everything Is Beautiful" and "Misty", as well as comedic hits such as "Gitarzan" and "The Streak". He has worked as a producer, music arranger, songwriter, television host, and solo artist; been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and the Christian Music Hall of Fame; and received Gold Albums for his music sales.

"Into the West" is a song performed by Annie Lennox, and the end-credit song of the 2003 film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It is written and composed by Lennox, Return of the King producer and co-writer, Fran Walsh, and the film's composer Howard Shore. The song plays in full during the closing credits of the 2003 film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, although instrumental music from the song plays at other points during the film itself. The song was later covered by New Zealand singers Yulia Townsend and Will Martin and American singer Peter Hollens. In 2014, German a cappella Metal band van Canto performed a cover on their fifth studio album, Dawn of the Brave. The song was conceived as a bittersweet Elvish lament sung by Galadriel for those who have sailed across the Sundering Sea. Several phrases from the song are taken from the last chapter of The Return of the King.

Inspired by the hard work of the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service which was started after Fiona Devine and her husband lost their son Alexander to illness.

This song is about being at peace, something calming to listen to when scared for both parents and children.
