In these two subjects recitations are conducted on the inor-ganic and organic chemicals of the U. S. Pharmacopoeia. Spe-cial attention is given to source, manufacture, permanence,impurities, industrial uses, and official standards. 12. Materia Medlca. Glass Work, 108 Hours. Lectures and recitations. This subject includes all the offi-cial and many unofficial substances used in medical practice;inorganic and organic chemicals, natural products and crudedrugs. A study is made of their sources, Latin and English names,physical and chemical properties, compounds or preparations,medical action and use, antidote and dose. In case of crudedrugs, the part used, active constituents, the geographic source,and adulterations are also given attention. At the end of this subject examinations are given on theMateria Medica pf the first and second years. (5)

27 13. Recognition, Laboratory Work, 54 Hours. The student will be taught to identify chemicals by physicalcharacteristics—appearance, taste, and color. LAW LECTURES. These are divided into two groups : (a.) Dealing with checks, drafts, notes, mortgages, mechan-ics liens, partnership, corporations, bankruptcy, leases, etc. (6.) Dealing with pharmaceutical legislation and with thespecial legal responsibilities of the pharmacist. COMMERCIAL PHARMACY. During tlie school year there will be given a series of lectureson topics pertaining to commercial pharmacy. Some of theselectures will be given by members of the faculty; others byspecialists and by successful business men. While the primary object of this school is to give training inscientific pharmacy, the fact that the modern pharmacist mustbe a business man is not lost sight of, and a special elfort ismade to prepare the student for a successful career.
