Dan Griswold, Mercatus, explains the peculiarities of Brexit. Boris Johnson (BoJo) got the EU to budge – a feat, in itself. Everyone wants an open border between Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland; under the current (last) proposal, there’ll be only a check of goods being transferred. This must be approved by the British parliament, with an uncertain outcome; high drama on Saturday.
The Backstop: as long as a real border exists, could not come to an agreement with the EU. If it all works out, then on Oct 31, Britain will leave the EU.
If the US signs a bilateral agreement with Britain, we’ll circumvent the overregulated EU market.
