On or around June 14, 2021 the Ford Government very quietly disbanded all 10 community advisory boards that were responsible for overseeing jails. Their creation was announced initially by the Liberal Provincial government in 2013 and was set for implementation over the following 2 years, with the first one coming into effect in 2014.
The community advisory boards were a key mechanism for ensuring that provincial inmates are treated properly.
