Today Craig is talking to franchisees. Your order of operations is critical here, even more critical than in 7th grade Pre-Algebra. Get your franchise agreement done first. Then, sign a lease.

If you don’t yet have everything wrapped up with your franchise agreement, you can only go ahead and sign a lease that is contingent upon you getting an acceptable franchise agreement done.

Watch out for inflexible franchisors. Are they just trying to make money off of you or do they want you to succeed. For example, if you’re not able to find a suitable site in the time they’ve allotted you, how understanding are they that the market may have shifted?
