Nico Stagias is a Toronto based filmmaker who has worked as a Director, DOP, Producer and Editor in television for the last 14 years.

His education includes an MFA degree in Film Production at the University
of British Columbia in Directing and an Honour’s BA in Communication Studies at Concordia University. He also studied at San Francisco State University in cinematography and lighting.

Nico has developed and produced two TV series and 2 stand-alone documentaries. These titles include I’m a Stripper, PopPorn, Balls and Studlebrity.

Nico is also an award winning filmmaker. He won the award for Best Artistic Achievement in a short film at the Inside Out Film Festival for “How to Lose a Guy” (2003) and “Recollect” (2004). “How to Lose a Guy” also won Best Audience Choice award at the Oregon Queer Film Festival.

At the 2007 DORA Awards “TimeCode Break” won the award for Best Production. Nico created all the visual elements for this show.

In 2008 he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award as editor for the documentary “Christopher House: Ahead the Curve”.

Nico directed, produced, shot and edited over 20 promotional commercials for Nickelodeon TV. This campaign, which was shot in India, Malaysia and the Philippines, won two Silver ProMax awards for Best Campaign and Best Comedic Campaign.
