In this episode of the Mass Amplify Show, Dr. Darria Long Gillespie of Emory Emergency Department and Executive at Sharecare, Inc talks about social media and technology for the healthcare industry.
Dr. Darria on medical advice and social media:
"The mic is always so whatever you type, someone may take it out of context so you always have to be cautious. Reread it to see how it can be interpreted.
Be careful not to give medical advice. I steer people to resources rather than give medical care on Twitter."
On what to share on social media:
"Steer clear of anything sensationalistic. Give people the empowering information they need."
On why social media is so powerful for health:
"Social media has changed the way we get our communication and our news about health.
Everybody is so busy and social media is a really great way to stop for just a second to get information."
