Joined by Zoe Gardner, and Abhishek Saha, we ask who is a citizen, and how can citizenship be taken away? We also look beyond the UK to the story of Assam, in India and how the National Register of Citizens has played out there. Zoe Gardner is Policy and Advocacy Manager at the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants. She previously worked in communications and policy roles at Asylum Aid, the Race Equality Foundation and the European Council on Refugees and Exiles in Brussels. Abhishek Saha is a journalist covering Northeast India for the Indian Express. He is currently undertaking the MSc in Migrations Studies at the University of Oxford, graduating in Summer 2022. His book, No Land’s People: The Untold Story of Assam’s NRC Crisis (2021) is published by HarperCollins India. Speakers: Abhishek Saha, Rob McNeil, Jacqui Broadhead, Zoe Gardner
